The Baptism of the Lord 2026

Jesus’ baptismal experience began his public ministry.  May we reflect deeply on the infinite love of the Father who sent his Son to show us the way back home.

“After Jesus was baptized … the heavens were opened for him … and a voice came from the heavens: 

‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.’” (Mt 16-17)

The Sky Speaks Back – A Reflection

When humans first realized they had limits And also were not alone,

They looked to the sky and pleaded with the sky, But the sky did not speak back.

And when Abraham listened to an internal voice, He must have yelled at the sky.

But the sky did not speak back.

And when his descendants cried out to the sky, The sky was silent.

And when Moses, the greatest leader of all, came along,

He too listened to the God within,

But only he heard the commanding voice.

And when the Israelites wanted the sky to speak The sky did not speak.

And when the great prophets pleaded, Even then the sky did not yet speak.

For hundreds of years we spoke to the sky But the sky was always silent

Until Jesus came out of the water And the world was never ever the same again.

For finally, at last, this day The sky speaks back.
